Former Gilbert's Gazelles member Jenna Bush Hager interviews Gilbert as part of a multi-hour NBC’s Today Show special about naturalization and immigration, and to celebrate the release of her father George W. Bush’s new book entitled OUT OF MANY, ONE: Portraits of America’s Immigrants, in which Gilbert is featured.

Gilbert is honored to be featured in a new book by George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States, entitled OUT OF MANY, ONE: Portraits of America’s Immigrants, to be released on March 2, 2021.

Gilbert capped 10+ years serving as a Commissioner of the prestigious Texas Holocaust & Genocide Commission. Gilbert worked with other Commissioners to combat and confront hatred, prejudice, and indifference by educating all Texans about the Holocaust and other genocides in an effort to dismantle antisemitism and prevent such future atrocities.

Earlier this year, an independent group of community leaders chose Gilbert to receive The First Tee of Greater Austin’s 2017 “Perseverance" Award. The First Tee of Greater Austin honors individuals whose attitudes and actions reflect the organization’s 9 Core Values. The Nine Core Values are a vital component of The First Tee’s curriculum which teaches character education to young people ages 7-17 through the game of golf. Congratulations to Gilbert!

4ATX Foundation, Austin FC’s nonprofit arm, announced Gilbert Tuhabonye as one of the Foundation’s 2023 Legends of the Year. The annual awards recognize contributions to building physically, socially and emotionally healthier communities in Central Texas. The awards will be presented on Wednesday, October 11 at 4ATX Foundation’s “A Night in Verde” Gala.

The Abilene Christian University Alumni Advisory Board has named Gilbert Tuhabonye ('01) the university's 2016 Young Alumnus of the Year. The winners will be honored with a luncheon on Alumni Day, Sunday, February 21, 2016.
